More and more organizations are collecting PPI (and other) data via methods other than the traditional visit to a client at their home.  We'd like to know - what have you tried, what challenges have you had, and what is working?

We tested collection of PPI via several different methods in India in this paper - http://www.progressoutofpoverty.org/theres-no-place-home-how-interview-m....  And Acumen, a PPI Alliance member, has done a good bit of this in their Lean Data initiative.  Grameen Foundation India worked with Acumen to collect PPI data via a call center for Ziqitza  - http://www.progressoutofpoverty.org/acumen-and-grameen-foundation-study-....

What other examples are there?

MerlTech had a useful blog post summarizing the costs and benefits of using SMS, IVR and phone surveys to collect data - http://merltech.org/cost-benefit-comparisons-of-ivr-sms-and-phone-survey-methods/.
